As in previous years Freeman Audio Visual was a major sponsor for the Special Olympics PEI 2016 held at the PEI Convention Centre. Décor lighting illuminated the set pieces and the gray drape spanning the wall. This year’s setup was highlighted with a glass gobo projection on a spandex circle suspended above the stage. We also set the backdrop with a “secret passage” so guest presenters could discreetly appear on stage from behind the set. Special guests for the night included Dion Phaneuf (Ottawa Senators), Mark Tewksbury (gold medal in the 100-metre backstroke at the 1992 Summer Olympics), Joe Salerno (track and field runner), Jenna Smith (3-time gold medalist in 10-pin bowling), and John Paynter (head coach of the Island Storm, PEI’s team in the National Basketball League of Canada).
MC Gino Reda (host of TSNs That’s Hockey) commented on how great the set looked when he first walked on stage and began the program! And then the Freeman team was officially inducted into the Special Olympics Festival Hall of Fame.
“This fundraising event was a huge success with over $140,000 raised during the night. Special thanks to Blair Satterley, Todd Lennox and Mitch Kays crew for a great set up and flawless operation of the night,” said Frank.
